About This Site
I was told the theory of the "third bucket" by a very wise friend of the husband of my cousin. I've adapted it here to fit my needs and I hope he won't mind my paraphrasing...
In life, when we encounter new people and situations, we can classify them in three ways: The first bucket is for those with whom there is an immediate connection and a strong sense of compatibility. The second bucket is for those with whom we do not immediately sense compatibility, and with whom we most likely won't form a lasting connection. The third bucket is reserved for those rare occasions when we find ourselves in situations so insane, unbelievable, awkward or even painful that we must hold onto them if only for the value of the story they provide.
Now that I'm moving to West Africa for the Peace Corps, I'm bound to have plenty of stories to share!
